I have been photographing Luke and his family for years, but was somehow still surprised when it was time for his high school senior pictures! I will admit the senior guys aren’t always as into it as the senior girls are, but if you can make it fast, easy and fun for them, you can get some great pictures and real smiles!
Here are 3 Tips to Prepare
- Keep it simple! I always send a questionnaire to pick there brains, find out their interests, and ask about their outfit and location choices. I always want to jam pack a session with a vareity of outfit, looks and backdrops, but if he finds that overwhelming, it is ok to pick a favorite (just one) location! It is ok to pick one or two outfits he loves (even if it is just a shirt change)! As long as he is comfortable and smiling naturally 🙂
- Incorporate something he loves! The family dog has been at every session we’ve had over the years so it is a natural fit to include him in the senior portraits as well. It is clear that they are best buds!
- When it comes to posing, go with their natural mannerisms and postures. Guide them along their natural lines to get a variety but see where and how they feel the most comfortable.
