A (Can’t mess it up!) Checklist for your Senior Portrait Session

Who doesn’t love a good list??

Planning for your senior session can be fun instead of overwhelming if you start early and really think about what you want these pictures to say about you.  These pictures may be in your yearbook for all of your fellow classmates to see, they will be sent out via your grad announcement for all your relatives, and in 20 years, you may be showing these pictures to your children!

About A Month Before

First, I always recommend setting up a planning consultation with me!  We can meet to discuss ideas, locations, outfits, hair and makeup- all of the little details, in person.  This brainstorming session will help us develop a clear plan for our session. You can also start noticing the pictures you like and create a Pinterest board and share it with me.

Next, enlist the help of your mom!  She knows you better than anyone, and is ready to help you look your best for your senior portraits!  This can be such a fun bonding experience for both of you to go shopping for outfits and accessories, get mani and pedi’s together and visit locations to find the right one.

About A Week Before

Try on your outfits from accessories to shoes before our session.  Look at yourself from all angles and make sure you are comfortable sitting, squatting and various other poses.

If you will be getting a tan or your eyebrows done, do them a few days before so your skin can get used to it.

If you want to feel truly pampered, spring for the hair and makeup.  I have several hair and makeup artists that I recommend and they can truly help you feel and look your best for your shoot.

The Day Before

Iron your clothes, finalize your accessories, and get your necessities ready (shoes, bras, etc.) Get a manicure and pedicure if needed.

The Day Of

Get lots of sleep the night before and stay hydrated so your skin will look glowy and your eyes will sparkle!

Then just relax and enjoy your session!  Your authentic smile will be the most important part of your pictures so make sure you have that!
