How to ensure the whole family will enjoy their family portrait session

It’s not always easy to get everyone on board with a family portrait session, especially once they get older.  But follow these tips to get genuine smiles out of everyone, and you’ll be able to cherish these photographs for years to come!

  1. Let them help with the planning.  Give everyone a say in their outfits, talk about different locations you all like, and even discuss how you’d like to see these photos in the future (gallery wall in the living room, a framed picture for her nightstand, an album for the grandparents, etc).
  2. Tell them it will be fun!  If they see you stressed out about it, they will see it as a stressful event also.
  3. Bribe them if you have to.  There’s nothing wrong with asking for a little cooperation in exchange for an ice cream cone once the session is over.
  4. Have fun while you’re at the session!  Don’t be afraid to do more than just smile – kiss, hug, tickle- whatever it takes to make the most of this time together and get great family portraits. 🙂

PS- There are still a few spots for a fall mini session (11/19).   Click here to reserve your spot!
