Back in March, I photographed a really cool workshop for mothers and daughters hosted by Sarah Schall. Sarah is a health coach and the creator of Inside Out Strong – a “program to guide a generation to know who they are, strengthen who they are, inside and out, so they are ready to lead and serve others.” Wow. I volunteered to help out at this event because I believe in the message that Sarah is trying to get out there. She wants to empower our daughters through strengthening their minds and bodies, and I want to strengthen them by helping them have a strong self image and self-confidence.
I spent the day watching mothers + daughters learn together, connect with others like themselves, and leave feeling excited about using what they’d just learned. In addition to shooting the event itself, I also made portraits of each mother and their daughters who attended and added a gift certificate for a portrait session into the giveaway for the attendees.
Victoria was the winner of a gift certificate! We met up for a fun summer session a few weeks ago. She has just graduated from 8th grade and what a perfect time for beautiful portraits! I think we can all remember the fear of entering high school. I can only hope that these portraits gave her a boost of self confidence because she rocked this session in her 8th grade formal dress! Her big smile makes everyone around her smile + her open mind and loving heart will always steer her in the right direction.
