When it comes to senior photos for guys, one thing I hear a lot from moms is that her son doesn’t really love having his picture taken. And that’s ok! The key is to build a session around things they really care about.
For this senior session, we focused on two things that were important to him – soccer and his car (which he absolutely loves!) Instead of trying to fit him into a “standard” senior session, we built the session around those pieces of his life. And that’s when it starts to feel natural and not forced.
We started at a local soccer field here in Apex, which immediately put him in his element. He brought his uniform, his ball and we just started with shots of him playing soccer. That helps ease us into our session together and then I can guide into poses.
After the soccer field, we headed over to the North Carolina Museum of Art for a few natural shots in the park and then some fun photos with his car!
These end up being some of the most meaningful images because they reflect this exact season of life – freedom, independence, and everything that comes with senior year.
Senior photos for guys don’t have to feel uncomfortable or forced. When we keep things simple, incorporate things they love and give them space to just be themselves – it becomes an experience they actually enjoy!
