Sometimes the best shoots aren’t the ones you plan – they’re the ones you pivot into.
This shoot was originally meant to be a full-on Valentine’s / Galentine’s celebration with the Class of 2027 Senior Model Team. We were going for fun, playful, love-filled energy just in time for February. But then, the snow came and we had to reschedule. And with timing not on our side to reschedule before Valentine’s Day, we had a choice: try to force the original idea, or lean into something new.
We chose new, and it ended up being one of my favorite shoots yet.
Instead of bright reds and themed setups, we shifted the vision to something softer. We created a light, feminine, romantic feel inside the studio using the pink and white details, the giant pink bow and the soft natural light in the studio.
This shoot was all about creating moments, not just poses.
And that is always my favorite part!
Yes, we captured beautiful portraits, but what made this shoot special were the in-between moments. The laughing, dancing, and hyping each other without even thinking about it.
The playfulness, the inside jokes, and the genuine friendships – that’s the heart of the Senior Model Team, and it showed in every single frame.
One of the sweetest additions to this shoot was the Polaroid camera.
The girls took photos of each other (and with each other), capturing their own perspective of the day. Not perfectly posed. Not curated. Just real.
And the best part?
They got to take those photos home.
A tiny, tangible piece of this season of life—friendships, laughter, and a moment in time they’ll never quite have again.
This is exactly why I love the Senior Model Team experience.
Yes, we create beautiful images.
But more than that, we create space for connection, confidence, and moments that feel like them.
Even when plans change, sometimes what you end up with is even better than what you imagined.
